Beberapa minggu lalu acer meluncurkan laptop varian terbarunya, yaitu Acer Aspire 7551G, sebuah notebook yang di khususkan untuk penggemar game. laptop berlayar Lebar 17", dengan kekuatan Processor 2GHz AMD Phenom II N930 Quad Core CPU, ditambah dengan Graphic Card ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650. Toshiba Tecra M9 Review

The design of the Tecra M9 is not unlike many other business notebooks; very basic and professional looking. The display cover and keyboard are a simple matte silver color, with no sleek sloping curves, just mildly rounded edges all around. The rest of the notebook is black plastic, leading to a design that would blend in with most Thinkpads or Latitudes around the office.

The build quality of the laptop does not feel up to par with most other business grade laptops in the same price range. The palmrest and keyboard exhibit a lot of flex, which is pretty uncommon for this class of notebook. The display lid feels fairly cheap with its thin plastic, but it did prevent ripples from showing on the screen from all but hard presses to the cover. The bottom of the notebook features a Swiss cheese style of cutouts, which has to be the most I have ever seen on a notebook to date. I would have to imagine that they are for heat dispersion, but as you will read on the notebook does get very warm under average stress.

Screen
The display on this notebook is a matte texture, like many business notebooks. The texture seems to go overboard in comparison though, as this screen has a high level of "sparkle" that gives the screen a dirty look. Colors look average, but with the excessive matte texture most intense colors appear to be washed out.
Viewing angles are limited causing most dark or midrange colors to wash out or completely disappear moving vertically above or below normal viewing angles. Horizontal viewing angles are a bit better, but still phases out much sooner than other notebooks in this class. Some may call this a privacy feature, but it just looks like a lower quality LCD used in a expensive notebook. Brightness levels are ok, but at times I wished I could go two or three notches above its max setting. The screen easy starts to wash out in a bright office setting, and would probably be hard to read in a well lit conference room.

Audio
The speakers included with this notebook are average for built-in speakers on business notebooks, and below average compared to most consumer machines. Bass and midrange were lacking, but upper frequency tones came through clearly. Volume levels were acceptable, but for anything over the standard Windows notification chimes, I would recommend wearing headphones for greater listening pleasure.

The headphone jack passed very clean audio, and had no hiss present. It would be perfect for hooking up to a stereo, or attaching a pair of headphones for watching a movie on a longer duration flight.

HP Compaq Presario CQ50-110US review

Home user laptop computer

Home users are increasingly turning to notebook computers as their primary PCs, as they like that laptops can offer similar performance and features to those of a desktop PC, and can be easily moved from room to room. Though of course almost any notebook computer will do for typical home use, there are two types of laptops most suitable for home users: mid-size notebooks, which tend to be budget-friendly, and desktop replacements, which are usually packed with features.

Lenovo 3000 N100 Notebook review

Without a doubt, Lenovo has one of the simplest, but also one of the most confusing naming conventions on the planet. Not too long ago we looked at the 3000 C100, the desktop 3000 J100 and then the ultra portable 3000 V100. Can you see the pattern?

Obviously, there are sub-codes in the product name, but even as an overall product series it's confusing. Today we are looking at the Lenovo 3000 N100. Finding this model with the same specifications are our review model proved difficult as there are several models based on the same chassis. Some will have faster processors, less memory or different graphics chips. So remember to look out for the exact details when shopping. The model we had in to review is closest to the TY04HXX.

The chassis itself reminds me of the C100, but this is a 15.4in widescreen with a 1,280 x 800 display instead of the dated 1,024 x 768. It's not a bad display and 1,280 x 800 is more than enough for most people. I certainly feel quite happy using it.
The first thing that struck me about the chassis was that on the top there are icons at the sides indicating where each port is. This is really useful as you aren't left fumbling around looking for a USB port. If in doubt, look on the left hand side, where you will find a single USB port, FireWire, Ethernet, a PC Card slot and an SD Card reader. On the right hand side are another three USB ports and audio connectivity. At the rear of the right panel is a D-SUB connection, and at the back there is an S-Video output too for connecting to a TV.

You'll also find a fingerprint scanner on the device. There is an excellent wizard that guides you through using this when you first boot up the machine, making sure your computer is password protected. Upon using the right fingerprint, it basically takes this password out of storage and logs in for you. If you wanted to, if you perhaps lost your fingers, or wanted to give someone access over the phone, you can access the machine using just your password. This is quite cool as you can just run your finger across the machine to log in, but I've survived the last few years typing passwords in, so I'm sure I could last a few more.

Notebook Toshiba Qosmio F50-AV530 Review

the Qosmio F50 offers a wide range of multimedia features. It also houses Toshiba's new Quad Core HD processor, a chip separate to the main CPU that aims to boost video performance--something we first heard about back in June. You can imagine, then, our excitement to review the laptop and find out how performance stacks up.


Features
With a resolution of 1,200 x 800 pixels, the bright 15.4-inch widescreen display is good for 720p HD video, but not 1080p. True HD aside, Toshiba makes much of its Quad Core HD processor that's housed within the Qosmio F50. This aims to provide extra oomph when video editing and watching films, as well as let you control the laptop by using hand gestures via the built-in webcam.

But is this Quad Core HD thing really worth shouting about? If you're only interested in the gesture feature, the answer is a resounding no. We gave it a fair crack of the whip, but it was a painful process with most of our gestures being completely ignored.

For movies, though, the Quad Core HD processor does perform quite well. We tried out the upconvert feature (upscaling to the rest of us) while watching Ocean's Thirteen and video did appear more detailed, though closer inspection does reveal a heavy amount of sharpening that can end up making certain scenes look worse.


There are also some important caveats regarding the upconvert application. You can only use it with the included Toshiba DVD Player software and, more importantly, it won't operate when the laptop's running off the battery. When activated, you also lose certain features, such as fast forward and rewind, and the laptop fan soon ramps up to an annoying level.

Design

Aesthetics were clearly high on the agenda for Toshiba when designing the Qosmio F50, but the glossy black and silver chassis looks and feels just a little tacky. A bewildering array of lights adorn the already over-the-top chassis--thankfully one of the touch-sensitive buttons lets you turn the unnecessary ones off. Harmon Kardon speakers, controlled by an old-fashioned dial, manage to produce deep and rich, if not incredibly loud, audio.

The keyboard is sturdy and features very little flex, but the glossy coating is way too slippery for extended periods of typing--a prime example of style over substance. Various ports are dotted around the chassis, including four USB (one of which doubles as an eSATA port), one mini-Firewire, a multi-format card reader and an aerial socket for the hybrid (analogue and digital) TV tuner. There's also an HDMI output, though to make full use of this you'll need to add a Blu-ray drive, but only a standard DVD rewriter is included.

Performance And Battery Life

With its Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26GHz processor, 4 GB RAM and 512MB Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT graphics, the Qosmio F50 returned some decent benchmark scores. In PCMark 2005 it notched up 5,445, while the 512MB Nvidia Geforce 9600M graphics card helped drive it to a score of 4,920 in 3DMark 2006. Battery life wasn't quite so hot, though, at 1 hour 28 minutes in the BatteryEater Classic test and 2 hours 13 minutes in the less strenuous Reader test. But weighing in at a hefty 4.1kg (including power adaptor), it's unlikely you'll be using it much away from the mains.

While the Quad Core HD processor works well when upscaling DVDs, the gesture-control feature is next to useless. That said, the Qosmio F50-10Z is reasonably priced at S$2,999 (US$2,006.96), it has plenty of features and, as long as the over-the-top chassis doesn't put you off, it serves well as a mid-range, entertainment-focused laptop.

Service And Support

Toshiba offers a one-year international carry-in warranty for this machine, with options to upgrade the coverage period at the point of purchase. For greater convenience, you can register the warranty online instead of mailing it in. Prompt assistance is available through a toll-free number for over-the-phone support and troubleshooting. An online support database called IRIS (Instant Response Information Service) features a search engine for solutions to commonly encountered problems. If the issue still cannot be resolved, the unit will have to be brought down to a Toshiba service center for repair. A list of service centers can be obtained from Toshiba's Web site, which also hosts updated drivers and utilities.

Notebook BenQ Joybook Lite U101 Review

When just about every 10-inch mini-notebook features the same processor, RAM, and operating system, competitors have to find some way of differentiating themselves. BenQ, the latest entrant into this crowded market, hopes to do so by adding a little visual flair. While the BenQ Joybook Lite U101 has the run-of-the-mill netbook specs, including an Intel Atom processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and Windows XP Home, spicing up the system is an interesting, artistic lid design and a 10-inch, 16:9 aspect ratio display (the first on a netbook to date). However, its cramped keyboard and short battery life will be a deal breaker for some.
A Unique Design

You can't blame BenQ for feeling that netbooks were starting to look all too similar, and it strives to ensure you won't forget the U101. The lid of this system has an emoticon design: Small light blue symbols (reminiscent of the Wingdings font) are printed on the blue (also available in white, black, and pink) glossy lid.

Upon close inspection, the diagonal pattern repeatedly spells out Joybook Lite. The artistic lid is undoubtedly unique and bound to attract some consumers, but others may be put off by its attention-grabbing pattern and prefer something more along the lines of the HP Mini 1000's subtle Imprint finish. According to BenQ, the cover has also undergone a special molding process to protect it from wear and tear.

The size and weight of the Joybook Lite is standard fare for a 10-inch system. At 10.2 x 7.4 x 1.3 inches and 2.6 pounds, it weighs the same as the Lenovo S10 and MSI Wind. While not as compact as the HP Mini 1000, it is shorter and narrower than both the MSI Wind and Samsung NC10. With a travel weight of 3.2 pounds with its AC adapter, the system felt almost nonexistent when we tossed it (inside the included neoprene sleeve) into a shoulder bag.

Three USB ports, VGA, Ethernet, headphone, and a microphone jack surround the Joybook Lite, and a 4-in-1 card reader is on the right side.
